Plain Sailing: December 6th, 2010 :
Hello again, just a quick comment to say everything running smoothly at HashHack.com, the online MD5 cracker has stabilized at around 22%, me SEO Efforts just landed me on Bing Page 1, and google is on the way up slowly. I have had a few small attacks over the past few days but nothing serious, I have had to heavily sanitize alot of the inputs to keep away the skids, but apart from that its all smiles and rainbows for month one of Hash Hack, Thanks to everyone whos been using the site, and keep up the good work and cracking those MD5 hashes.
Just a quick note that will be of interest to you, HashHack.com WILL NOT be making you fill out surveys for your hashes, not now and not ever, I got a touch of the greed when making this site with all the hype around CPA lead, but this site will made unfettered and free for its life time.
Happy Cracking
Deep Water : November 26th, 2010 :
Aloha, Thanks to my SEO work HashHack.Com is climbing the search rankings at an alarming rate, I even have a steady stream of viewers every day now, this has lead me to realize that my site is now becoming a big contender, so it was time to make a few changes to harden the site.
Firstly is the fact I have increased the number of hashes on my site to 21,152,093 , I did some research about common passwords and have changed my offline algorithm and data sets accordingly, now the database is made up of English Dictionary Words, Male/Female Names and Common/Likely Passwords. All of these have been mutated with substitutions such as 1337 speak and capitals, I have also appended dates and the numbers 1-1000 so if your password is something strange like OuthOuse444 I am more likely to find it, so smiles all round.
Also at the time of writing i have been doing a bit of snooping on my competitors and they all seem to have a list crack functions to crack multiple hashes at once, im still working on mine but it should be live tonight, if not it will be Monday morning. Also, as long as my site is still climbing the rankings and is still fragile I will NOT be putting surveys on the cracker
Ever Changing : November 23rd, 2010 :
Hello, for those of you that were getting disgruntled with the lack of hashes that my site was cracking, i have commenced phase two of my hash cracking plan, if HashHack's online MD5 cracker can't find your hash in its database, it will now look for it on the internet, which will hopefully improve my hash cracking percentage and benefit you greatly, i will be making this module stronger and more powerful as I develop the site.
For those of you interested in my SEO efforts, I have been focusing recently on my back links and have achieved some high page rank back links with the aid of "SEO powersuit" so I am hoping a lot more people will be finding HashHack.com on Google in the near future, once again, if you are interested in a reciprocal link agreements and are within the computing field, please send your request to seo@hashhack.com.
Up And Running : November 20th, 2010 :
Hello again, only a few tweaks to the site recently, those of you with a keen eye will notice I have adjusted the headers on each page to god awful H1 tags, this is because apparently Google likes H1 tags, so until this site is higher ranked in Google, they will have to stay there - sorry.
If any site owners are reading this, I am currently accepting pretty much all reciprocal link agreements as long as your content is in the computing field, send me an email to seo@hashhack.com with your website URL, a brief description of your website and a link to where you have linked to HashHack.Com on your site. I will add your site to my Info page within 24 hours.
I am currently looking to update my database to 28 Million hashes within the next few days, I am currently generating the data needed so it should be live soon. I am also looking to expand my site to crack SHA1 hashes in the next 2 weeks if i can get the data generated in time.
Have a good weekend.
Tweaks and Tickles : November 13th, 2010 :
After yesterdays disaster, rebuilding the site gave me a little scope for expansion, youll notice i have added the Cracked Hash Statistics counter to the home page and online MD5 cracker pages of the site, this is to let me and you know how well the site is doing, im trying to keep my cracking percentage around 15% minimum, if it falls below this I will increase the size of my database or add more mutations of the current data.
Some more good news for HashHack.com - i was accepted to CPA Lead last night so i am ready to introduce advertising to the site on December 1st 2010, i'm also thinking of introducing a paid member scheme where paid members can crack SHA1 and Wordpress hashes, but this is still at the drawing board stages currently because it dramatically increases the scope of my site.
I have also added another 2,819,205 password hashes, including a hell of alot more 1337 speak for the kids, as well as another comprehensive English word dictionary with the numbers 1-10 appended. This takes HashHack.com's total hash count up to 13,503,265 hashes, so enjoy.
Sh*t Hits the Fan : November 12th, 2010 :
NIghtmare day for HashHack today as most of you will have noticed, all Plesk generated PHP code on my site started throwing errors at around 15:00 GMT and my hosts were unable to fix the problem (great). I ended up hot fixing the site at around 19:00 GMT so you will notice there has been a few updates to the site to try and rely less on the Plesk technology to avoid any errors in future.
I'm working on SEO alot this week to try and get more people using my online MD5 cracker. I have also attempted to add a links page to give you some information on hash cracking and the security scene in general.
Getting On : November 10th, 2010 :
Iv'e uploaded alot more hashes to the site, the MD5 Database is up to 10,864,08 hashes, iv'e got an offline copy of all alpha numeric passwords under 6 characters that i will upload soon, iv'e also added a bookmark link on my home page to keep you guys coming back.
I'd just like to give some thanks to Novatic for adding my site into his signature at www.HackForums.net, thanks for the support dude, you have been a great friend over the last few months, i owe you one.
Baby Steps : November 1st, 2010 :
First MD5 hash database gets generated with a starting size of 500MB, I took a dictionary from a well known password cracker and built a programme to mutate each entry using symbols and numbers to give HashHack.com a strong starting point as i work towards a brute force style solution.
Launch Day : November 5th, 2010 :
HashHack.com gets launched under UnlimitedWebHosting, happy hash cracking people, if your viewing this site live today its because iv'e linked you to it, im going to start working on meta tagging and search engine optimisation soon to get more people cracking hashes on HashHack. Thanks to everyone thats supported me whilst i was building this site, and everyone at uni for putting up with me talking for hours about it.
